Your Daily Guide

Hi, Twin Cities! It’s Adam today. If you planned to vote by mail and haven't requested a ballot yet, change your plans. The Minnesota Secretary of State recommends requesting a mail-in ballot before Oct. 20, because your ballot may not get counted if it arrives too late.

Early voting in person is open across the Twin Cities though, and it's really easy to do (easier than day-of voting in my opinion, because the line is usually shorter)! The City of Minneapolis lists its early voting locations and hours every day on their website, and residents of St. Paul and Twin Cities suburbs can find a location on the Secretary of State website.

What the Cities Are Talking About

Replacing Angie Craig: Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District is one to watch next Tuesday, as progressive DFLer and former Lakeville Mayor Matt Little faces Republican state Sen. Eric Pratt for Rep. Angie Craig’s soon-to-be-open seat. Craig positioned herself as a moderate in the “purple” district, which was held by a Republican before she won in 2018. The results could signal whether the district remains competitive or if eight years of Craig have solidified Democratic support. [Pioneer Press]

Car to kitchen: After amassing nearly 750,000 followers on TikTok by eating and reviewing food in his car, local influencer Tony Cu announced plans to open a restaurant at the B-Dale Club in Roseville. Cu's "classic club fare" will include burgers, wings, wraps, and salads. Cu plans to open on Dec. 1. [Bring Me The News]

Progressive or Republican? Have you gotten any of these mailers attacking Sen. Amy Klobuchar from the left? The Star Tribune reports that sender Citizens for Public Safety Transparency LLC was created by a lawyer on behalf of an anonymous client, and their true identity is unknown. Lawyers from the same law firm have created other shell companies to anonymously funnel money into elections in several states. A Klobuchar campaign spokesman blamed her Republican opponent in the governor’s race, state Rep. Lisa Demuth for the mailers, and a Demuth campaign spokesman denied any involvement. [Star Tribune]

Get off ya hands and vote: The Twin Cities-based, Grammy-winning ensemble Sounds of Blackness released a new single called "Get Off Ya Hands & Vote," and music director and producer Gary Hines joined today's episode of the podcast to tell us all about it. Warning: the catchy, energetic gospel track will get stuck in your head and might cause you to go vote. [🎧 City Cast Twin Cities]

Pivot returns: Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway will be back in town for a taping of their podcast, Pivot, on Nov. 4. On today's episode of our podcast, Kara talks about why she wanted to hold the taping in Minneapolis and shares some of her predictions for next week's elections.
